Its a man thing . . .
Castle Galleries in Newcastle has been selected to show a number of signed limited editions from the fabulous Jack The Lad series, created by local artist Keith Proctor.
Keith, who was raised in Northumberland, has been painting as a hobby for 25 years and enjoyed exhibitions in London and US galleries in the 1990s. Now, thanks to a nationwide publishing deal with Washington Green Fine Art Publishing, his oil paintings featuring a loveable young lad, Jack, exploring the outside world are being brought to the attention of the general public across the UK through the Castle Galleries group of art stores.
Keith said: I wanted to portray the close bond between father and son. Although my son Jack is the model for the paintings, the beauty of each playful, boyish scene is that they could be anyones son, nephew or grandson.
Castle Galleries can be found in Unit 13, Monument Mall, Blackett Street, Newcastle. The gallery is open Monday to Friday 9.30am-5.30pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, and on Sunday 11am - 5pm. Contact the gallery on 0191 233 2200 or visit www.castlegalleries.com

Bamburgh Castle to open all year
Bamburgh Castle, which traditionally closes between November and March, will be open to the public all year round in a commitment to further boost tourism in the area.
The announcement comes after the runaway success of Bamburgh Castles first-ever February opening, which saw more than 2,000 people visit the historic landmark during half-term week.

Director Chris Calvert said: The castle has just enjoyed a phenomenal February opening. The demand is there - more people are coming to the area during off-peak times and they want places to visit and things to do. This figure has justified our decision to open all year round, not just for peak times, and is furthering our commitment to making Bamburgh and the surrounding area a year-round tourism capital.
The castle has employed two new members of staff, while several part-time positions have been made full-time.

An added pressure comes with the chance for the girls to vote each other off the bus and out of the competition, with David Van Day delivering the devastating news to the booted bride.

Protection for pro footballers
Platinum Players is an exclusive website that offers luxury lifestyle products and services to professional footballers.
The website is the brainchild and creation of Middlesbrough FC footballer Andrew Taylor.
Andrew came up with the idea after he was ripped off by a company that had done some work on his house. When he spoke to several of his team-mates about his experiences he discovered it was fairly common, particularly among foreign players who had just arrived in the UK.
His idea was to set up a non-profit-making website specifically for players where they could get recommendations on everything from builders to jewellers, cars to holidays, and a host of other services, including security.
