Two powerful remedies for today's tough business climate - leadership and laughter - were on the menu at the Entrepreneurs' Forum's Chairman's Dinner.
Kicking off the new season of events and conferences, the dinner was held at Close House Hotel, Heddon-on-the-Wall, and was hosted by Forum chairman and CEO of Sage plc, Paul Walker. About 90 members enjoyed a three-course dinner and were treated to inspiration from guest speaker Major General Arthur Denaro CBE and entertainment from comedian Michael McIntyre, currently appearing on the TV show Would I Lie to You?. A former SAS soldier and troop commander of the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars, Major General Denaro served in the first Gulf War. He was Commandant of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and was Middle East adviser to the Secretary of State for Defence for six years until 2002. Comparing leadership on the battlefield with running a business, he gave an insight into how to motivate, inspire and lead others in testing times. The Chairman's Dinner kicked off a new season of Forum events that include the Think Big, Start Local graduate conference on November 5 and the annual SME Conference on November 6.
