Charitable entrepreneurs proved a real driving force for fund-raising as they donated a staggering 100,000 in a single night to boost the health of children across the North-East.
The total in aid of The Childrens Foundation was the highest ever raised by the Entrepreneurs Forums annual charity ball at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead, which took on a Monte Carlo Formula One theme, and which was attended by 300 members and their guests.
The amount raised took total raised by the Forums charity balls over the past six years to more than 400,000.
Professor Stephen Singleton, chairman of The Childrens Foundation, said the money raised would be vital to the organisations mental health and regional small grants projects. He said: On behalf of The Childrens Foundation, I would like to say a huge thank you to the Entrepreneurs Forum for a magnificent evening of fund-raising.
Compere Mark Peters oversaw the money-spinning charity auction, while there was musical entertainment from pop-rock band The Lightyears.
Forum chief executive Carole Beverley said: Altruism is a common thread flowing through the Forum and I am overwhelmed by the exceptional generosity of many of our members.
