The launch of this years Hexham Abbey Festival took place in the abbey with an invited audience of supporters and friends.
The festival, which takes place between Friday, September 24 and Sunday, October 3, is this year entitled Fantastic Fables, and events in the programme draw on the whole range of music and arts that is encompassed in the whole title - the Hexham Abbey Festival of Music and Arts.
Artistic Director, Graham Coatham, said: In 2010 you can look forward again to the first weekend being full of family fun activities, a second eating festival in conjunction with Hexham Community Partnership, live music around the town, and another family concert - a very popular first, introduced in 2009, on the Sunday afternoon. All of which will be the Spirit of Hexham festival within the main festival.
The Young Artist Platform once again features the brilliant talent that comes out of Hexham itself in the weekday lunchtime recital series.
Mr Coatham said the 2010 festival boasts the best ever line up of music from choral to classical, folk and gospel, to poetry, puppets, childrens entertainment, opera and film.
