This summers results for Central Newcastle High School represent another exceptional year at the independent all girls school based in Jesmond, positioning the school once again as one of the top 100 schools in the country.
At A Level, 92% of all A2 entries were at A*/A/B grades and an impressive 25% were at A* grade, while at GCSE, the Central High girls racked up 400 A* grades between them in addition to over 300 As. This means that 76% of entries were at A* or A and over half of the candidates at Central High gained nine or more A* or A grades, all of which far outstrips the national average for maintained and independent schools.
Headmistress Hilary French said: These results are truly outstanding. Each year we push the boundaries in teaching and learning and have been rewarded by a consistent improvement in our results.I am so proud of the girls; they are all incredibly talented and the results are recognition for their hard work as well as a testament to the teaching they have received from the staff at Central, who provide such an impressive level of support.
At Centralwe help shape the girls lives. I must quote Olivia Foster who joined Central Highs Sixth Form in 2009. She said: Coming to Central was the best thing I could ever have done. I had never been introduced to Medicine and never dreamt that I was even clever enough to be a doctor. Olivia gained three As in her Biology, Chemistry and Geography A Levels this summer and will be reading Medicine at Aberdeen University.
