Built almost 2000 years ago to house a Roman army garrison guarding the nearby bridge across the River Tyne, Chesters Roman Fort is an impressive visitor attraction.

Picturesquely set in the beautiful valley of the River North Tyne, Chesters Roman Fort is one of the best preserved examples of a Roman cavalry fort in Britain. The site also features a museum containing an amazing collection of archaeological discoveries.
