Business Profile on Inside Interior Design in Hexham, Northumberland
I work on both residential and commercial work. I am working on one large private house - a lovely old stone property in the Tyne Valley but also working on The Presidents Lounge at The Falcons Rugby Club.
I enjoy the variety and the challenges. No job is ever straightforward or the same, there are always many factors to be considered on the way to getting the perfect result for the client. It has to be very much what the client wants and needs, they are paying for the work to be done, and they have to live with the end results. My role is to listen, give ideas, and interpret their wishes - not to impose my likes or whims.
It is very rewarding when you have worked on a public space and the visitors then report back positively on the ambience or pick out details which they really like.
I was lucky enough to be involved with the re-furbishment of the Duke of Wellington Inn at Newton. Downstairs in the bar and restaurant areas I was part of a team making many decisions, but my main role was to concentrate on the window treatments, the upholstery and the paint colours. Upstairs in the bedrooms I had pretty much full control, coming up with entire schemes for all seven rooms and sourcing all the wallpapers, furniture, fabrics, art work and lighting...in fact even the little details (which make all the difference) like the trays for the tea and coffee making and the gorgeous range of bathroom amenities.
Equally when a private individual says that they smile every time they enter they re-designed sitting room for example - it is also very rewarding.
