Tantalise your taste buds at the bigger and better Bishop Auckland Food Festival this month
Foodies will flock to Bishop Auckland this month for the towns annual food festival where will showcase the best producers from the region and further afield.
Among those at the free event, which will take place over two days this year, will be producers of artisan breads, organic wines and award winning cheese, seafood and game from across the North East. They will be joined, among others in an impressive programme of events, by the winner of the Great British Bake Off, a soap actor-turned-cheesemaker and the Fabulous Baker Brothers.
Last year saw a record 140 stall holders welcome more than 20,000 people to the festival, with many events sold out. This year organisers have extended the festival to two days Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21 and hope to attract even bigger crowds to events being held at venues around the town.
John Whaite, the winner of The Great British Bake Off 2012 will be among the star attractions this year and will be talking about his whirlwind year and signing copies of his first book Recipes for Everyday and Every Mood.
Former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson, who has won a gold medal at the World Cheese Awards since leaving the soap, will demonstrate some of his favourite recipes at the festival, and the Fabulous Baker Brother, Tom and Henry Herbert are expected to pull in the crowds again.
They will demonstrate some of the regional recipes they gathered on their tour of the UK for their new television series.
