The Morritt hotel at Greta Bridge held its first Cask Ale Festival, when the 'Major Morritt' beer was introduced, named after a former owner and namesake of the hotel.

County Durhams beer drinkers have given a firm thumbs up to a new local ale. The Morritt hotel at Greta Bridge held its first Cask Ale Festival, when the Major Morritt beer was introduced, named after a former owner and namesake of the hotel.

Hotel owner, Barbara Johnson said: Were delighted with the reaction - we sold three times more Major Morritt than any other beer we had on offer, so we must have got it right.
Hundreds of beer aficionados turned up at the three day event, at which the Morritt also provided live entertainment and a hog roast.

Barbara said: Im hoping we can make this a regular event. It certainly was a big success for us.
