More than 110 generous residents from across the North East donned their finest eveningwear for the annual Hope 4 Kidz Candelit Ball in aid of Little Angels Christmas party.

Guests at the black-tie ball, which was held at the Lumley Castle Hotel, Chester-le-Street, were welcomed by a lone piper playing in the castle grounds, before enjoying a classical reception, gourmet four course dinner and live entertainment from Quick Return and the Beatroute Disco.

Proceeds from the balls ticket sales were combined with money raised from raffles, auctions and tombola held on the evening and used to help fund Hope 4 Kidzs annual Santas Christmas party, which was attended by more than 200 children from across the North East, who are all suffering from an illness, disability, poverty or abuse.

Viv Watts of Hope 4 Kidz said: Santas Christmas party is one of the most popular events of the year because it gives the children something to look forward too and a chance to escape their circumstances for the afternoon.
