To mark the launch of the new British-built Vauxhall Astra, Sherwoods branches are making donations for every test drive booked by customers as well as collecting donations for the Help for Hero Heroes charity.

A military charity is better off thanks to the efforts of a North-East motor dealer.

To mark the launch of the new British-built Vauxhall Astra, Sherwoods branches are making donations for every test drive booked by customers as well as collecting donations for the charity.

The money raised will be sent to Help for Hero Heroes, a national charity which is building Hedley Court, a specialist centre for physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Speaking at a launch night in Northallerton, Sherwoods managing director Alasdair MacConachie said: My family has a long and proud association with the Armed Forces who do a fabulous job around the world.

Sadly for every soldier who pays the ultimate price there are countless others who suffer serious and debilitating injuries serving their country. These are the people that Hedley Court is designed to support and I am thrilled to be doing our bit.
