The chain of office of the presidency of Darlington Rotary Club was handed over at a dinner at Headlam Hall hotel in County Durham.

Outgoing President Derek Risbey thanked members, his family and his wife Aileen as he handed over to incoming President Alan Cowie, who paid tribute to his predecessor for the years achievements.

More than 120 Rotarians, family and friends attended the event, and Mr Risbeys final act as president was to nominate three Paul Harris awards, named in the memory of the founder of the Rotary movement.

The prestigious awards, which are for long and outstanding service, went to Norman Bainbridge, Gabriel Lowes and Alan Wood.

A charity raffle during the evening raised 400.
