Just over the border in Cumbria, this unmissable attraction plays host to the longest continuous remaining stretch of Hadrian’s Wall on the magnificent World Heritage site.
Visitors can experience Roman life as they explore the fort, turret and milecastle. The Visitor Centre’s exhibition also illustrates the history of the Wall, and tells the story of Birdoswald and its people over the past 2000 years.
Birdoswald is the perfect place for a family day out or as a place to take a break. Rest your weary legs and relax at the tearoom which serves delicious locally made cakes and treats.
Outside you can see wildlife in abundance as this site is a real nature haven. Birdoswald also offers farmhouse-style accommodation for those wishing to stay within this historic site.
