A new restaurant opened its doors to a VIP guest list as Darlington College in County Durham celebrated its latest development.

College chairman Alasdair MacConachie cut the ribbon officially opening The Glasshouse.
Based at the Haughton Road campus, the new restaurant can accommodate around 70 covers and can be used for private functions or dinners. College Principal Tim Grant said the event was an important occasion in the history of the college.

This is a fantastic community resource and it allows our hospitality and catering students the chance to work in a first-class restaurant setting, he said.

The evening also saw the launch of the colleges Annual Review, a reflection on student and staff achievements in 2010.
